Join a respected and collaborative law firm seeking an experienced Legal Billing Specialist to play a key role. Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Legal Billing Specialist will manage the full billing lifecycle, ensure compliance with complex client guidelines, and contribute to the success of a high-volume, multi-office billing operation.
- 3+ years of legal billing experience required, including preparation of prebills, final invoices, billing adjustments, write-offs, and management of month-end billing cycles.
- Proficiency with Aderant/Sierra required; experience with Elite Enterprise, Elite ProLaw, Elite 3E, or other comparable legal billing software will also be considered.
- Strong knowledge of legal billing rules and e-billing processes, including LEDES formats, UTBMS coding, client billing guidelines, and managing invoice rejections, corrections, and resubmissions through platforms such as CounselLink, Legal Tracker, and Serengeti.
- Review attorney time entries for accuracy and compliance, ensuring proper rates, billable versus non-billable classifications, narrative compliance, and resolution of billing discrepancies.
- Work closely with attorneys, legal assistants, and finance personnel to explain billing issues, provide proactive follow-up, and maintain confidentiality while handling sensitive client and financial information.
- Support accounts receivable and finance functions, including applying client payments, reviewing general ledger summaries, understanding trust accounting concepts, and assisting with high-volume billing operations.
- Advanced Excel and Microsoft Office skills required, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and data analysis; finance or accounting degree preferred or equivalent relevant legal billing experience.
